Appointment of Chief Financial Officer

Orica today announced the appointment of Mr Noel Meehan as Chief Financial Officer, effective 1 May 2005.

Mr Meehan is currently the Group Investor Relations Manager for Orica. Since joining Orica in April 1999, other roles occupied by Mr Meehan within Orica, have been Chemicals Group Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Reporting Manager. Prior to joining Orica, Mr Meehan worked for Qantas and Australian Airlines.

Orica Managing Director and CEO, Malcolm Broomhead, said that the appointment of Mr Meehan demonstrated the quality and depth of Orica’s management and the strength of Orica’s succession planning and follows an internal search and external benchmarking.

Mr. Meehan replaces Mr Jim Hall who announced his retirement in January, 2005.
