ICI Australia Managing Director

The Chairman of ICI Australia Limited, Dr Ben Lochtenberg, announced today that Mr Philip Weickhardt is appointed Managing Director of the Company with immediate effect.

Mr Weickhardt, aged 48, has been an executive director of ICI Australia Limited since April 1994. He currently has specific responsibility for the Chemicals business. He is also a director of Incitec Limited and chairman of ICI New Zealand Limited.

Mr Weickhardt has spent all of his working life with ICI including 7 years in the UK. A chemist by training, his career with ICI has included roles in product development, manufacturing and marketing before moving into senior business management roles.

In acknowledging his appointment, Mr Weickhardt paid special tribute to his predecessor, Warren Haynes. "I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the ICI Australia team, but deeply regret that this has come about because of Warren's untimely death. Warren has been a source of inspiration to us all and under his leadership, ICI Australia has gone from strength to strength, providing an excellent springboard to our exciting future as an independent Australian company".
