| Orica to consult with the community about Denman storage facility proposal 25 January 2012 Orica will consult with the local community regarding it's proposal to use a former Rosemount Winery site as an ammonium nitrate (AN) storage and distribution facility. Many industries and companies in the Hunter region rely on Orica to supply them with AN. The former Rosemount Winery site, which sits on the eastern side of Rosemount Road approximately six kilometres northwest of Denman, is well located to service the region. The site is already significantly developed for industrial or commercial purposes and existing infrastructure requires minimal works to transform it into a safe storage and distribution facility. The safety of our employees and the community is a critical priority in our approach to this development. The Development Application for the reuse of the site as a storage facility has been lodged with Muswellbrook Council and is currently on exhibition. Orica proposes that the buildings on site be retained with minor upgrade works to meet the relevant Australian Standards for AN storage. The application also outlines an extensive range of environmental and safety management measures for the site. In addition to Council’s exhibition period, Orica is holding community information events regarding the proposal. The two events will take place in Denman, with a community information session at the Denman Memorial Hall between 3 and 7pm on 2 February 2012 and tours of the former Rosemount Winery site on Saturday 4 February at 9am, 10am and 11am. Muswellbrook Council will be accepting submissions on the proposal until 10 February 2012.
